Softball Recap: Wood-Ridge Drops Season-High Score on Garfield

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wood-Ridge). They never let the Garfield Boilermakers get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory on Monday. The Blue Devils have beaten the Boilermakers the last five times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Boilermakers has come to flipping the script.

Isabella Capuano was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in two of her three plate appearances with one run and one RBI. That run marked the first that she has scored this season.

In other batting news, Brooke Stellato was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Brielle Rivera, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.

Wood-Ridge always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .633. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Wood-Ridge's record now sits at 4-5. As for Garfield, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Wood-Ridge will face off against Saddle Brook at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Garfield, they will square off against Manchester Regional at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
