The Heartland Mustangs had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They came out on top against The Daniel Academy by a score of 46-35 on Saturday. The victory was nothing new for Heartland as they're now sitting on six straight.

Heartland was led to victory by Jayce Maiden and Diego Martinez. Maiden dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds, while Martinez almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine steals. Maiden is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Zach Stone, who scored seven points along with two blocks.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jesse Yap, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. Another player making a difference was Noah Maldonado, who scored nine points.

The Daniel Academy struggled to work together and finished the game with only an assist. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
