Preview: Hermitage Panthers vs. Mechanicsville Mustangs
The Hermitage Panthers will be playing at home against the Mechanicsville Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Hermitage blew past Maggie Walker, posting a 62-29 win at home.
Breyona Robinson was the offensive standout of the match as she scored 27 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Hermitage's points. Trinity Spurlock was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Meanwhile, Mechanicsville put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They breezed by Varina on the road to the tune of 66-38. Fans of Mechanicsville have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season ended as a blowout.
Mechanicsville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Kedelin Santos out in front who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 10 rebounds. The match was Santos' fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Ashley Owens, who scored 12 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 blocks.
Hermitage now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Mechanicsville, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.
This contest is shaping up to be a blowout: Hermitage hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having only averaged 61 points per game.
