Soccer Recap: Avenal Takes a Loss

Avenal and Nipomo squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but Avenal had to settle for second. While the 0-0 score might suggest a draw, it was the Nipomo Titans who were credited with the victory. The Nipomo Titans got it done in the shootout by posting three goals to the Avenal Buccaneers' two. If the Buccaneers were looking for revenge after losing 3-0 to them when the teams met back in December of 2019, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Avenal's defeat dropped their record down to 18-8. As for Nipomo, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Avenal does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Nipomo, they will be playing at home against Granite Hills at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (Nipomo has won seven straight at home, while Granite Hills won three straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
