Preview: Harrisonburg Bulldogs vs. Monterey Wolves
Harrisonburg is 0-10 against Monterey since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Harrisonburg Bulldogs will head out on the road to square off against the Monterey Wolves at 5:30 p.m. Given that the pair suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Harrisonburg suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 68-13 loss at the hands of Rapides. While losing is never fun, Harrisonburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 348th, while Rapides is ranked 160th).
Harrisonburg's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Colton Crum, who scored six points along with five rebounds, and Laine Dupuis who scored two points along with five rebounds and two blocks. Dupuis has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times he's played.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Harrisonburg struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Rapides racked up 16 assists.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 66 points the game before, Monterey were a bit more limited in their contest on Friday. They were dealt a 63-18 loss at the hands of Avoyelles Charter. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Monterey has scored all season.
Harrisonburg's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Monterey, their loss dropped their record down to 11-10.
Harrisonburg couldn't quite finish off Monterey in their previous meeting back in February of 2023 and fell 39-37. Can Harrisonburg avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
