The Malcolm Clippers are taking a road trip to challenge the Platteview Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their contests after big wins in their previous games.
Malcolm had to skate by with only a two-point margin when they last took the court, which might have inspired the 48-point drubbing they dealt Raymond Central on Tuesday. The Clippers breezed past the Mustangs to the tune of 61-13. That looming 61-13 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for the Clippers yet this season.

Malcolm's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brixon Meyer led the charge by putting up nine points along with five assists and five boards. Those nine points gave Meyer a new career-high. Preston Kucera was another key player, shooting 50% from the field en route to 12 points.
They weren't the only ones working in the assist department: Malcolm was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their assist total in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, the third road matchup was the charm for Platteview, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They blew past Beatrice 43-23 on Tuesday. The 43-point effort marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring contest of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.
Malcolm better keep an eye on Sully Vanosdall. He was instrumental in Platteview's win, going 9-for-13 to rack up 22 points and three steals. Thanks to that strong game, Vanosdall now owns an excellent 46.3% shooting accuracy. Another player making a difference was Levi Ekue, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 12 rebounds.
Malcolm's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 3-1. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.7 points over those games. As for Platteview, the win was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-2.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Malcolm has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 29 boards per game. However, it's not like Platteview struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Malcolm came up short against Platteview when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 40-35. Can the Clippers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
