Softball Recap: Mira Loma Matadors vs. Marysville Indians
Mira Loma extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 17 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-12 in the process. They lost 14-0 to the Marysville Indians. That's two games in a row now that the Matadors have lost by exactly 14 runs.
As for Marysville, their win ended an eight-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-17. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
For Marysville's part, Janis Sutton and Jaynee Morgan were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Sutton tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Meanwhile, Morgan pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, she posted four strikeouts, the most she's had since back in March. At bat, Sutton went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Morgan got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, Marysville got a big performance out of Deanna Goode, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Those two RBI gave Goode a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylie Jeffords, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
