Baseball Game Preview: Livingston Wolves vs. Pacheco Panthers

Livingston is 8-2 against Pacheco since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Wolves will challenge the Panthers at 4:00 p.m. Livingston is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.

Livingston is headed into the game having just posted their closest win since February 28th on Thursday. They skirted past Johansen 3-1.

Danny Aguilar spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 20 Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Livingston's success: when he posts at least ten strikeouts the team is 3-1 (and 5-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Davien Del Toro, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 12 runs the game before, Pacheco was a bit more limited in their contest on Thursday. They fell just short of Grace Davis by a score of 4-2. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Pacheco has been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season. As for Livingston, their victory bumped their record up to 8-10.

The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Livingston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pacheco struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.

Livingston was able to grind out a solid win over Pacheco when the teams last played back in April of 2018, winning 5-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wolves since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
