Basketball Recap: Dietrich Beats Carey for Their Third Straight Win

Dietrich hadn't done well against Carey recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Dietrich Blue Devils came out on top in a nail-biter against the Carey Panthers, sneaking past 36-33. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Blue Devils have posted since February 16, 2024.

Dietrich got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Katilyn Wanamaker out in front who posted nine points along with six boards and three blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hanson, who put up six points and eight rebounds.

The victory (which was Dietrich's third in a row) raised their record to 8-7. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 24.0 points per game. As for Carey, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 7-1 and their overall record down to 12-6.

Dietrich didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-50 win against Gooding on the 25th. As for Carey, they will be playing at home against Wendell at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
