Preview: Meeker Bulldogs vs. Holdenville Wolverines
Meeker and Holdenville are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2016, but not for long. The Meeker Bulldogs on the road again on Monday and play against the Holdenville Wolverines at 4:00 p.m. on January 15th. Meeker will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Oklahoma Rankings (they are ranked 376th, while Holdenville is ranked 64th).
Last Tuesday, Meeker came up short against Stroud and fell 51-40.
Even though Holdenville has not done well against Okemah recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Holdenville had just enough and edged Okemah out 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win Holdenville has posted yet this season.
Holdenville got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Belle Mcfarland out in front who scored 15 points. Mcfarland continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Dah?myah Olden, who scored 12 points.
Meeker has not been sharp recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-9 record this season. As for Holdenville, their win bumped their record up to 11-3.
Meeker was taken down by Holdenville 62-35 in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Can Meeker avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
