Softball Recap: Roseville Panthers vs. Center Line Panthers
Roseville extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 16 on Wednesday, dropping their season record down to 0-14 in the process. They lost 11-5 to Center Line. Roseville was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Center Line apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.
Lyla Davis stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: she went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. Madison Smith also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Center Line's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-8. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last eight games.
On Center Line's side, Claire Ogden made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out 13 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits. Ogden was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Gracelyn White was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Madison Ienco was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple.
We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Roseville will square off against rival Lamphere at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Center Line is set to face off against their familiar foe Clawson at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
