Football Recap: Mildred Starts Season with Victory Against Iola

Mildred gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They slipped by the Iola Bulldogs 21-20. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Luke McKendree threw for 196 yards and one touchdown on only 18 passes. Layton Wing was his top target, picking up 104 receiving yards and one score. On the ground, Trenton Harris rushed for 199 yards and a pair of TDs.

Mildred wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next matchup, a 40-2 win against Rice on the 5th. As for Iola, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 40-6 victory against Normangee on the 5th.
