Baseball Recap: Rocky Ford's Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Rocky Ford had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They were the clear victor by a 23-3 margin over the Mitchell Marauders on Saturday.

Isiah Vazquez-Gallegos was a standout: he scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Chris Augilar, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple.

Rocky Ford always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .825. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mitchell only posted an OBP of .400.

The win got Rocky Ford back to even at 1-1. As for Mitchell, they are on a 13-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.

Looking ahead, Rocky Ford will face off against Rye at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Mitchell, they will square off against Hinkley at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Mitchell has given up an average of 15.4 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
