Basketball Recap: Madison Marlins vs. Northside Panthers

In what's become a running theme this season, the Madison Marlins gave their fans yet another huge victory on Saturday. They took their contest at home with ease, bagging a 90-51 victory over Northside. The victory was nothing new for Madison as they're now sitting on 12 straight.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Madison to victory, but perhaps none more so than Anthony Avalos, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Avalos is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Devean Newton was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with six steals.

When it comes to explaining why Northside lost, one person who can't be blamed is keith Wilson. Despite the final result, he scored 23 points along with three steals and three blocks. Wilson hasn't dropped below three steals for ten straight games. Another player making a difference was Bryce Brown, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.

Madison is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 16 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Northside, they dropped their record down to 10-13 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.

Madison will square off against the Generals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Wisdom has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 12. As for Northside, they will be playing at home against the Raiders at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Sterling's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
