Softball Game Preview: West Boylston Lions vs. Maynard Tigers

For the first time this season, West Boylston will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They are taking a road trip to take on the Maynard Tigers at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, West Boylston beat Murdock 8-4. The win continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now won eight in a row.

Meanwhile, Maynard had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They put the hurt on Ayer Shirley with a sharp 25-5 victory on Wednesday.

Elizabeth Schmidt was a standout: she got on base in four of her six plate appearances with four runs, five RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Ryleigh Raschi was another key player, scoring five runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-5.

West Boylston couldn't quite finish off Maynard in their previous meeting back in May of 2024 and fell 3-1. Can the Lions avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
