Basketball Recap: Mcdowell Makes It 12 in a Row at Home

McDowell had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They snuck past the Enka Jets with a 65-59 victory. Given the Titans' advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 82nd, while the Jets are ranked 516th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

McDowell's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Derrick Forney Jr led the charge by putting up 18 points. Another player making a difference was Kyson Rinnert, who posted 15 points.

Enka's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Hyatt Middleton, who went 8 for 18 en route to 21 points and eight boards, and Logan Trantham, who had 24 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Leon Ansari, who scored six points.

McDowell pushed their record up to 18-2 with the win, which was their 12th straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points per game. As for Enka, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-15.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. McDowell will challenge Asheville at 8:15 p.m. on Friday. McDowell is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 72.2 points per game this season. As for Enka, they will square off against North Buncombe at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Enka also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 62.4 points per game.
