Recap: Winchester Community Golden Falcons vs. Wapahani Raiders
The Winchester Community Golden Falcons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. They took a 54-49 hit to the loss column at the hands of Wapahani. While losing is never fun, Winchester Community can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Wapahani is ranked 105th).
Leading Wapahani to victory were Emily Luce and Megan Luce. Luce scored 12 points along with 6 steals and 5 rebounds, while Luce scored 18 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Zoey Swallow, who scored 5 points along with 3 steals.
Winchester Community has fallen quite a ways from their 19-7 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for Wapahani, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Winchester Community will challenge Cambridge City Lincoln at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cambridge City Lincoln is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak. As for Wapahani, they will head out on the road to face off against Frankton at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Frankton will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
