Basketball Game Preview: Windom Eagles vs. Luverne Cardinals

The Windom Eagles will square off against the Luverne Cardinals at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Windom knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past seven games -- so hopefully Luverne likes a good challenge.

While Windom didn't have the best season last year (they finished 8-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They enjoyed a cozy 82-64 victory over St. James on Friday.

Meanwhile, Luverne posted their biggest win since February 17, 2024 last Sunday. Everything went their way against Baltic as Luverne made off with a 74-53 victory. The win was all the more spectacular given the Cardinals' disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 198th in Minnesota, while the Bulldogs are ranked 26th in South Dakota).

Windom pushed their record up to 7-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 92.5 points per game. As for Luverne, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-5.

Windom came up short against Luverne in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, falling 96-84. Can Windom avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
