Baseball Recap: Archbishop Carroll Takes a Loss

Archbishop Carroll was the 11-4 winner over Coral Shores when they last played one another back in April of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Archbishop Carroll took an 8-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of Coral Shores on Monday. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

ANDRES GARCIA was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he tossed six innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. He has become a key player for Archbishop Carroll: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 6-8-1 otherwise.

On the hitting side, DAMIAN ESPINALES was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was ADEN ARGOTE, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Archbishop Carroll now has a losing record of 8-9-1. As for Coral Shores, the victory (which was their 12th in a row) raised their record to 13-1-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Archbishop Carroll will venture away from home to take on Belen Jesuit at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Coral Shores, they will head out to square off against Keys Gate at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Coral Shores is facing Keys Gate at the right time seeing as Keys Gate is stuck on a seven-game losing streak.
