Soccer Recap: San Marcos Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Millikan, San Marcos was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They never let the Ventura Cougars onto the board and left with a 1-0 win. Given the Royals' advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 177th, while the Cougars are ranked 399th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

San Marcos' one-goal win came courtesy of Jose Ramirez, who's now up to 15 this season.

San Marcos now has a winning record of 5-4-2. As for Ventura, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-7-2.

San Marcos will head out on the road to take on Dos Pueblos at 5:15 p.m. on Thursday. San Marcos' offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end. As for Ventura, they will welcome Santa Barbara at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday.
