Soccer Recap: Payson Comes Up Short

After flying high against Highland Prep last Thursday, Payson came back down to earth. The Longhorns fell just short of the Highland Prep West HORNETS by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. Payson were not able to make up for their loss to Highland Prep West from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Payson's defeat dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Highland Prep West, their victory bumped their record up to 9-0.

Payson will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Camp Verde at 4:30 p.m. on the 13th. As for Highland Prep West, they didn't take long to hit the pitch again: they've already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Show Low on the 2nd.
