Baseball Game Preview: Oktaha Tigers vs. Dewar Dragons

The Oktaha Tigers will head out to challenge the Dewar Dragons at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oktaha has given up an average of 7.7 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Oktaha lost 12-4 to Choctaw on Saturday. The Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Dewar put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. Everything went their way against Kiowa as Dewar made off with a 7-1 victory. Considering the Dragons have won 11 games by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

S. Yaeger made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.

In other batting news, AIDEN TOMLINSON and L. Hankins did most of the damage at the plate: TOMLINSON scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Hankins got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. Those three runs gave TOMLINSON a new career-high. Another player making a difference was SKELLY TAYLOR, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Dewar's win was their 30th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-0. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Oktaha, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-4.

Oktaha came out on top in a nail-biter against Dewar in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 5-4. The rematch might be a little tougher for Oktaha since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
