Baseball Recap: Sand Rock Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Sand Rock came into Thursday's contest having lost seven straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They came out on top against the Gaston Bulldogs by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. This was a revenge game for the Wildcats: when they faced off against the Bulldogs on Tuesday, they had to take a 4-3 defeat.

Ezra Robison made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off seven hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April of 2025. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bailey Martin was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March. Brycen Murphy was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one stolen base.

Sand Rock's record is now 6-17. As for Gaston, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Sand Rock will host Geraldine at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Gaston, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Donoho at 5:00 p.m.
