Baseball Recap: Marist Sets Scoring Season-High Against Carmel

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Marist). They blew past the Carmel Corsairs 15-5 on Saturday. The RedHawks haven't had any issues with the Corsairs recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.

JP Gainer tossed a big game, pitching 4.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Emmitt Senger was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was John McAuliffe, who went 3-for-4 with three runs and two doubles.

Marist kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in seven consecutive contests.

Marist's win bumped their record up to 18-12. As for Carmel, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost five of their last six matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 11-19 record this season.

Marist will have a chance to go back-to-back against Carmel: the pair will be back at it again later today.
