Baseball Recap: Cheyenne Mountain Wins High-Profile Contest Against Golden

Cheyenne Mountain faced Golden in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Red-Tailed Hawks beat the Demons by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 5-2. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent win being a 5-2 victory on Saturday.

Nate Glad was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with two runs and two RBI. He has become a key player for Cheyenne Mountain: the team is 15-0-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 7-9 otherwise.

In other pitching news, Cheyenne Mountain got a great performance from Javin Eslinger as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 5.1 innings pitched.

Back at the plate, Jansen Roberts and Noah Reickert did most of the damage at the plate: Roberts went 1-for-3 with two runs and one triple, while Reickert went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Roberts has hit this season.

Cheyenne Mountain has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-9-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. As for Golden, their defeat ended a ten-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 26-5.
