Preview: Claremont Wolfpack vs. Charter Oak Chargers

The Claremont Wolfpack and the Charter Oak Chargers will face off at 11:00 a.m. on December 28th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Claremont is hoping to put an end to a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

On Wednesday, it was a hard-fought game, but Claremont had to settle for a 41-39 defeat against Sage Ridge. While losing is never fun, Claremont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 1067th in California, while Sage Ridge is ranked 107th in Nevada).

Despite their loss, Claremont saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Aarion Kennebrew, who scored eight points along with eight steals and five rebounds, was perhaps the best of all. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Yonael (Yona) Banko, who scored ten points along with five rebounds.

Even though they lost, Claremont were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Charter Oak came up short against Templeton on Wednesday and fell 55-44. Charter Oak has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Claremont has not been sharp recently, as they've lost nine of their last ten games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season. As for Charter Oak, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.

Claremont lost to Charter Oak on the road by a decisive 56-42 margin when the teams last played on December 5th. Can Claremont avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
