Basketball Recap: Blue Ridge Early College Comes Up Short

Blue Ridge Early College was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their eighth straight defeat. They were dealt a 65-24 loss at the hands of the Highlands Highlanders. That's two games in a row now that the Bobcats have lost by exactly 41 points.

Despite the defeat, Blue Ridge Early College saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Brooklyn Kenney dropped a double-double on 14 points and 12 boards. That was a full 58.3% of Blue Ridge Early College's points, marking the 12th time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.

Blue Ridge Early College's loss dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Highlands, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 11-8.

Blue Ridge Early College didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 55-19 defeat against Hayesville on the 29th. As for Highlands, they will venture away from home to challenge Hiwassee Dam at 6:00 p.m. on February 4th.
