Recap: Gilmer Bobcats vs. White County Warriors
The Gilmer Bobcats lost against the White County Warriors back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Gilmer took a 35-28 hit to the loss column at the hands of White County. Gilmer has struggled against White County recently, as their contest on Friday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Gilmer's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Issac Rellinger, who rushed for 87 yards and a touchdown.
White County was led to victory by Tripp Nix and Ryan Fowler. Nix threw for 222 yards and two touchdowns while completing 79.2% of his passes, while Fowler rushed for 165 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 9.2 yards per carry. Fowler is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last seven games he's played. White County also got help from Isaiah Whitlow who showed off his sure hands for 85 receiving yards.
Gilmer's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 6-4. The slump could be explained by some tough opposition over that stretch, namely White County, Lumpkin County, and Wesleyan. As for White County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Gilmer will square off against Adairsville at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Adairsville is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games. As for White County, they will head out on the road to face off against Bremen at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
