Softball Recap: McEwen Warriors vs. Gibson Southern Titans
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against McKenzie, McEwen was happy to have turned things around on Friday. They put the hurt on the Gibson Southern Titans with a sharp 8-2 win. While the Warriors didn't have the best season last year (they finished 2-5), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Ava Lastovka made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out 12 over seven innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring three runs while going 2-for-2. She also put up a double, which was her first of the season.
Lastovka wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Ellie Littleton, who scored a run while going 1-for-3. Kendal Mcneil also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
