Football Game Preview: Piedmont Hills Pirates vs. Ann Sobrato Bulldogs

The Piedmont Hills Pirates are taking a road trip to take on the Ann Sobrato Bulldogs at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Piedmont Hills has given up an average of 32.5 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 51-15, which was the final score in Piedmont Hills' tilt against Branham on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 606th, while the Bruins are ranked 297th).

Although Piedmont Hills took the loss, they still got scores from Diego Arias and Kyle Hughes.

Meanwhile, Ann Sobrato played a tough contest two weeks ago in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against Branham, falling 56-27. The Bulldogs were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 49-13.

Piedmont Hills will have to contain Brayden Hughes as he made an impact in Ann Sobrato's last game. He threw for 161 yards and a pair of TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.

This is the second loss in a row for Piedmont Hills and nudges their season record down to 2-2. As for Ann Sobrato, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Piedmont Hills beat Ann Sobrato 14-7 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Pirates since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
