Softball Recap: Marshall County Takes a Loss

Marshall County lost against Franklin County back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Rebels by a score of 5-4. That's two games in a row now that the Tigers have lost by just one run.

Brookelyn Nunley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and three unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Anna Stewart was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Kinley Wiser, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Marshall County has been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season. As for Franklin County, their win ended a five-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-13.

Looking ahead, Marshall County will look to defend their home field on Monday against Eagleville at 6:00 p.m. The Eagles will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Franklin County, they will face off against Warren County at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
