Basketball Recap: Spring Valley Drops Season-High Score on Sumter

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Spring Valley). They blew past the Sumter Gamecocks 86-43 on Friday. The win was familiar territory for the Vikings who have now won three contests in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Spring Valley to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lauren Crosland, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 11 rebounds. That's the most boards Crosland has posted since back in January of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Mariana Moody, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and ten boards.

Spring Valley was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Spring Valley has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.6 points per game. As for Sumter, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

When Spring Valley and Sumter next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Spring Valley will try to stop Blythewood's five-game winning streak when the meet at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Sumter will try to stop Lugoff-Elgin's four-game winning streak when the meet at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
