Football Game Preview: Hunt Warriors vs. Southern Nash Firebirds + How To Watch

Hunt is 0-6 against Southern Nash since October of 2015 but things could change on Friday. The Warriors will welcome the Firebirds at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Hunt comes in on four and Southern Nash on five.

Hunt is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They breezed past Southern Wayne to the tune of 63-0 two weeks ago. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Warriors' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina football rankings (they are ranked 67th, while the Saints are ranked 346th).

Hunt relied on the efforts of Mez Harris, who rushed for 60 yards and a pair of touchdowns, and Doryan Jones, who rushed for 149 yards on only 12 carries. The dominant performance also gave Harris a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two).

Meanwhile, Southern Nash strolled past Fike with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 68-54.

Southern Nash's win came from a few key players Hunt will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jaden Hartsfield, who rushed for 174 yards and four TDs while picking up 8.7 yards per carry. Camron Lyons was another key player, gaining 191 total yards and three touchdowns.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Southern Nash was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 302 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 252 rushing yards in ten consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Hunt's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Southern Nash, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
