Basketball Game Preview: Snow Canyon Warriors vs. Desert Hills Thunder

Snow Canyon has gone 8-2 against Desert Hills recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Snow Canyon Warriors will be playing in front of their home fans against the Desert Hills Thunder at 7:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Last Wednesday, Snow Canyon didn't have quite enough to beat Hurricane and fell 60-58. Even though they lost, the Warriors' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.1 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Despite their loss, Snow Canyon saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Issaiah Thompson, who went 5 for 9 en route to 12 points and seven boards, was perhaps the best of all. The dominant performance also gave Thompson a new career-high in assists (four). Reggie Mackay was another key player, dropping a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Desert Hills was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Wednesday as they fell 61-56 to Dixie. The defeat continues a trend for the Thunder in their matchups with the Flyers: they've now lost nine in a row.

Snow Canyon will have to contain Ben Chase as he made an impact in Desert Hills' last game. He went 6 of 8 on his way to 19 points and five boards. Chase is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Freeman Springer, who posted ten points.

Desert Hills' loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-7. As for Snow Canyon, their defeat was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 4-13.
