Softball Game Preview: Fountain Lake Cobras vs. Centerpoint Knights

The Fountain Lake Cobras will venture away from home to challenge the Centerpoint Knights at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Fountain Lake has struggled recently with five defeats in a row, while Centerpoint will arrive with six straight wins.

Fountain Lake fell victim to Malvern and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They came up short against the Leopards, falling 15-0.

Meanwhile, Centerpoint hadn't done well against Ashdown recently (they were 0-3 in their previous three matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Knights were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Panthers. The Knights might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five matchups by six runs or more this season.

Centerpoint pushed their record up to 8-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.5 runs over those games. As for Fountain Lake, their loss dropped their record down to 2-7.

Fountain Lake beat Centerpoint 8-3 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Cobras have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
