Baseball Recap: Lighthouse Christian Starts Season with Win at Home

Lighthouse Christian gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Idaho City Wildcats. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Lions as it put an end to their three-game losing streak dating back to last season.

Karsten Sweesy was a major factor no matter where he played. He struck out ten batters over 4.1 innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in strikeouts. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Korbin Hyink, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4.

Looking ahead, Lighthouse Christian will challenge Glenns Ferry at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. This will be Glenns Ferry's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. As for Idaho City, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 16-4 defeat against Vision on the 14th.
