Baseball Recap: Tuckahoe's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Monday

Tuckahoe dropped their record down to 7-3 on Monday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Hastings Yellow Jackets by a score of 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Tigers have suffered since May 30, 2024.

Tuckahoe saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Connor Brice, who went 3-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double. Brice is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played.

As for Hastings, the victory got them back to even at 7-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win they have posted since April 4th.

On Hastings' side, Matt Corbo and Kieran McGrath did most of the damage at the plate: Corbo went 2-for-4 with one home run, while McGrath went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The Yellow Jackets are undefeated when McGrath posts one or more home runs, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Sbrega, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one run.

Tuckahoe wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 2-0 loss against The Leffell School on the 29th. As for Hastings, they will square off against Blind Brook at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Trojans have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.6 runs per game on average), something the Yellow Jackets will no doubt try to take advantage of.
