Basketball Recap: Woodbridge Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Ayslenn Paulino and Ayanna Porter

Woodbridge and Colonial Forge squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Woodbridge had to settle for second. They took a 44-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Colonial Forge Eagles. The Vikings have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Woodbridge's loss came despite strong showings from Ayanna Porter and Ayslenn Paulino. Porter posted six points and seven rebounds, while Paulino went 6-for-10 on her way to 12 points and seven boards. The dominant performance gave Paulino a new career-high in points.

Even though they lost, Woodbridge smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in five consecutive matches.

Woodbridge's loss dropped their record down to 11-13. As for Colonial Forge, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 16-7 record this season.

Woodbridge does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Colonial Forge, they will take on Gainesville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
