Football Recap: Faizon Brandon and Ty Shoemake Secure Win for Grimsley + How To Watch

With a playoff win on the line, Grimsley rose to the challenge on Thursday. They managed a 13-7 win over the Weddington Warriors. Those 13 points were actually the fewest the Whirlies have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.

Leading Grimsley to victory were Ty Shoemake and Faizon Brandon. Shoemake rushed for 147 yards and one touchdown while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, while Brandon rushed for 81 yards on only eight carries. That's the most rushing yards Brandon has posted since back in October of 2024.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Grimsley was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

Grimsley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Evander Davis and Kosci Barnes. Kyrie Millner was another major factor on D, making ten total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Grimsley's record now sits at 14-0. As for Weddington, the defeat snapped their winning streak at 11 games and leaves them with a 12-2 record.

Grimsley didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 24-14 victory against Clayton on the 12th. Weddington does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
