Baseball Game Preview: Rossville Hornets vs. Lafayette Central Catholic Knights

Rossville hasn't had much luck against Lafayette Central Catholic recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Hornets will square off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. Rossville is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

On Thursday, Rossville didn't have quite enough to beat Delphi Community and fell 5-4.

Rossville saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was RJ Vantuinen, who went 2-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Lafayette Central Catholic waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 11-9 victory over the Raiders. 11 seems to be a good number for the Knights as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.

Lafayette Central Catholic's victory bumped their record up to 11-3. As for Rossville, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 11-4.

Rossville suffered a grim 9-0 defeat to Lafayette Central Catholic in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Hornets avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
