Softball Recap: Carrick Triumphs

It may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Carrick ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They had just enough and edged out the Taylor Allderdice Dragons 4-3. This was a revenge game for the Raiders: when they faced off against the Dragons on Thursday, they had to take a 10-1 loss.

Jayda Rose was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over eight innings while giving up three earned runs off four hits. Rose was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one stolen base. Rose is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least one every time she's taken the field this season.

In other batting news, Raniyah (Niyah) Walden was excellent, going 3-for-4 with one triple and one run. She is on a roll when it comes to triples, as she's now hit at least one in each of the last three games she's played. Ambrie Tinsley was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Carrick kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Taylor Allderdice only managed four hits.

Carrick is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Taylor Allderdice, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 8-1 and their overall record down to 8-3.

Coming up, Carrick will welcome Gateway at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Taylor Allderdice, they will head out to challenge Obama Academy of International Studies at 3:15 p.m. on Monday.
