The Oak Hill Raiders will face off against the Winthrop Ramblers at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
Oak Hill came into their game on Monday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-1 to Lake Region.
Oak Hill saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Braden Dubuc, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run.
Meanwhile, Winthrop was not the first on the board last Wednesday, but they got there more often. They put the hurt on Boothbay with a sharp 19-1 win. The Ramblers haven't had any issues with the Seahawks recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
Drew Mertzel was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. Mertzel was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ross Ficthorn, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Brody Adams was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Winthrop always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .605. The last time their OBP was this high was back in April of 2025.
The win got Winthrop back to even at 1-1. As for Oak Hill, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
