Basketball Game Preview: Butler Aviators vs. Troy Trojans

The Butler Aviators are taking a road trip to face off against the Troy Trojans at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Butler is probably headed into the match with a chip on their shoulder considering Northmont just ended the team's 12-game winning streak on Saturday. They took a 60-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Thunderbolts. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Aviators came into the game with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 117th, while the Thunderbolts are ranked 250th).

Meanwhile, Troy lost to Miamisburg on the road by a 51-35 margin on Saturday. The contest marked the Trojans' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Butler's loss ended a seven-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-1. As for Troy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 7-7 record this season.

Butler beat Troy 65-53 in their previous meeting back in December of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Butler since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
