Basketball Recap: Fort Thomas' Loss Ends Six-Game Winning Streak on the Road

If Fort Thomas was riding high fresh off their 86-23 takedown of Ray last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Fort Thomas Apaches came up short against the Joseph City Wildcats on Friday, falling 63-40. The Apaches have struggled against the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite the defeat, Fort Thomas had strong showings from Jamie Johnson, who went 7 of 17 on her way to 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals, and Adaia Lorenzo, who went 5 for 12 en route to 15 points and six boards. The game was Johnson's fifth in a row with at least ten points.

Amber Neill was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a double-double on 20 points and nine rebounds for Joseph City. Neill continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabrielle Jesmer, who posted 13 points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Fort Thomas' loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 23-5. As for Joseph City, the win (which was their 14th in a row) raised their record to 23-4.

Fort Thomas has already played their next match (against St. Michael), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Joseph City will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Williams at 5:30 p.m.
