Volleyball Recap: Genoa-Hugo/Karval Comes Up Short

Genoa-Hugo/Karval was the 3-0 winner over Flagler when they last played one another back in October of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Pirates fell 3-1 to the Panthers on Friday. While the Pirates didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Panthers 25-18 in the first set.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 18-25, 25-18, 25-15, 25-23.

Rylee Corn paced Genoa-Hugo/Karval's offense, picking up 11 kills. Corn got some help from Rylee Kelly and her 16 assists. Finally, Corn was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high three blocks.

Genoa-Hugo/Karval now has a losing record of 6-7. As for Flagler, their win bumped their record up to 9-3.

Looking ahead, Genoa-Hugo/Karval will head out to square off against Cheyenne Wells at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Flagler, they will host Caliche at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
