Baseball Recap: Mercyhurst Prep Makes It Five in a Row on the Road

Mercyhurst Prep never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They didn't even let the Seneca Bobcats on the board, marking the Lakers' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Lakers, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Brady Rice looked comfortable as he kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits over four innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Zack Kruszewski, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Alex Manendo was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Mercyhurst Prep hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in five consecutive matches.

Mercyhurst Prep pushed their record up to 13-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Seneca, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12.

Coincidentally, Mercyhurst Prep and Seneca will both be playing Union City the next time they take the field. The Lakers will head out to face the Bears at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Bobcats will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
