Preview: Wilde Lake Wildecats vs. River Hill Hawks
The Wilde Lake Wildecats are on the road again on Friday and play against the River Hill Hawks at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Both teams come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Even though Atholton scored an imposing 58 points on Wednesday, Wilde Lake still came out on top. Wilde Lake enjoyed a cozy 74-58 win over Atholton.
Meanwhile, River Hill had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Wednesday. They walked away with a 76-64 win over Long Reach. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
River Hill relied on the efforts of Aiden Igwebe, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten rebounds, and Soma Unegbu, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Unegbu has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Braden Sauritch, who scored ten points along with five assists and five rebounds.
The win got Wilde Lake back to even at 2-2. As for River Hill, their win bumped their record up to 3-0.
Wilde Lake took their victory against River Hill when the teams last played back in February by a conclusive 83-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Wilde Lake since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
