Baseball Recap: Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Central Catholic made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Butler, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Vikings fell just short of the Golden Tornado by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. The Vikings have struggled against the Golden Tornado recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive lost matchup.

Josh McFadden spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on three hits and racked up 11 Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Central Catholic is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 3-8 otherwise.

Central Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 6-9. As for Butler, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.

While Central Catholic had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
