Softball Recap: Southwest Eagles vs. Braddock Bulldogs

Southwest was the 11-1 winner over Braddock when they last played one another back in March of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. The Southwest Eagles took a 12-7 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Braddock Bulldogs on Tuesday. Southwest's defeat continues an unfortunate trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

Isabella Rodiguez made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. The team also got some help courtesy of Mia Acosta, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI.

On Braddock's side, Melanie Tapanes was incredible, firing off three triples, a stolen base, and two RBI while going 4-for-4. Tapanes is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stolen at least one in the last 11 games she's played. Emily Cancio was another key contributor, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.

Southwest's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3. As for Braddock, their win bumped their record up to 6-8-1.

As for Braddock, they will play host again on Thursday to welcome Coral Park, where first pitch is scheduled at 3:30 p.m. Coral Park is coming into the contest with four straight victories on the road, so Braddock will have to stop a squad with plenty of momentum.
