Baseball Game Preview: Gustine Reds vs. Golden Sierra Grizzlies

The Gustine Reds will take on the Golden Sierra Grizzlies at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Gustine's favor as the squad sits on four straight wins at home while Golden Sierra has been banged up by four consecutive losses on the road.

Golden Sierra's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Tuesday: Gustine hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. The Reds' pitchers stepped up to hand Stone Ridge Christian a 10-0 shutout on Thursday. Considering the Reds have won 13 matches by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Gustine got a big performance out of Michael Salsa, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. That's the most hits Salsa has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Mike Saaranzin, who got on base in two of his three plate appearances with three stolen bases and two runs.

Gustine always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stone Ridge Christian only posted an OBP of .211.

Meanwhile, Golden Sierra can bid farewell to their four-game losing streak thanks to their game on Thursday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Vacaville Christian 6-4.

Ethan Caruthers made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Caruthers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Gustine's win bumped their record up to 17-5. As for Golden Sierra, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
